Woot Woot!

Even though we did not create a float this year we must have done something right with our walking entry. We earned 2nd place overall in the school division. The FFA entry took home the first place prize. Congratulations to Mr. McClelland and his group for creating a fantastic entry. A very fitting tribute to Mr. M. in his last year at RIHS.

Anyway, thanks again to our sponsors and all of our members that were able to help with our creation. Thanks again to Jared for coming up with the idea in the first place. Great job Art Club!

I love these guys!

Here is a test shot from our photo booth. Unfortunately,we were unable to use it during Smiles Day due to high winds. Maybe we can utilize it at a dance later in the year. It was fun to make none-the-less.

Homecoming week is fast approaching.

This year the Art Club will....big gasp here...not be creating a float for the Smiles Day Parade. BUT we will be creating a walking entry based on the idea of a Chinese dragon. With a focus on the theme of photography...well you will just have to wait and see.

We are also planning on creating a photo booth on the square during Fridays festivities as well. This will be one of our fundraisers for the year. So make plans to stop by and check it out.

We will be working on our parade entry in the Art Room this year starting this Sunday afternoon. The schedule this year is considerably different due to scheduling issues.

Work days are as follows:
Sunday, Sept. 19 - 2pm-5pm
Monday, Sept. 20 4pm-7pm
Tuesday, Sept. 21 no work day
Wednesday, Sept 22 5pm-8pm

2010-2011 Year has begun!

New stuff on the way. I will try and update the new roster as well as events in the next couple of weeks.

Typically Art Club meets on Thursday mornings, but this might have to change due to other commitments.

We will be planning our float entry for the annual Smiles Day parade on Friday, September 25.

We will keep you posted.

Shows and such.

We have three more shows slated for the remainder of the year.

March 26 and 27 - West Central Conference Art Show - Hamilton High School

April 24 - Schuyler-Industry District Art Show - RIHS Gymnasium

May 3-14 - Regional Arts Center Annual Student Show - Macomb

Plans are currently underway for Art Exposure, a young artists workshop. This new event will take place on Saturday, April 10 at RIHS from 9am -11am.

The workshop will be open to students in grades 1-4. There will be a class size limit and the cost for the workshop will be $10 per student.

All proceeds will go towards the annual Chicago trip. More details to follow soon.

Wow it has been some time...

since my last post! Anyway, loads of things are taking place around the art department at RIHS. This past weekend, along with the Schuyler Arts Council, we hosted our annual Kay Mattson Memorial Student Art Exhibit. This years show was a huge success. We showcased not only the visual art talent of our students but the musical as well.

This years show featured work from the following students: Tara Crow, Nikki Crow, Jared Root, Caleb Grafton, Anne Riutzel, Angel Sabino, Brandon Speth, Josh Hart, Brandy Wise, Sara Layne, Jenna Whitaker, David Zufelt, Connor Ambrosius, Shawn Gregerson, Griffin Jones and Brie Clairmont

Brandon Speth, Josh Hart and Zach Ingles kept the evening lively with an eclectic mix of improv music. This was a huge change from our traditional low key background music. It was fantastic! Thanks guys for performing for the guests at the show.
